James Bond Black Silk Jamaica Shirt
As we can see from the recent set photos published by The Daily Mail, the first 007 style we’re getting a look at for Bond 25 is decidedly casual. But the James Bond black silk Jamaica shirt is actually pretty interesting.

Some quick hunting by AJB007 Forum member TheExit128 delivered the most likely candidate for the shirt. He found the Tommy Bahama Catalina Twill long sleeve shirt in black. And it looks like all the details line up with what we see in the set photos. The shirt is 100% silk and features a one-piece collar, pick stitching accents, a chest pocket, dark tonal buttons and a straight hem with notches at the side seams. The shirt retails for $115 and is pretty much sold out everywhere. Sad face ….
About the Alternatives
Before we start looking at the affordable alternatives, just a couple of things to keep in mind. First, that one-piece collar isn’t an easy thing to find in off-the-rack shirts. So I’ve also searched for camp collar (or Cuban collar) options. The camp collar also typically one piece but normally does not button all the way to the top. However, given how Bond is wearing his shirt, that doesn’t seem like a big sacrifice.
Second, alternatives with both the chest pocket AND the one piece collar in an appropriate fabric are rare. In this post, I decided to focus on options with a close collar. Honestly, if you just want to go with a normal spread collar and a chest pocket there are plenty of easy to find choice out there. All right, let’s go!
Best Option for the James Bond Black Silk Jamaica Shirt
Mango Slim Fit Linen Shirt in Black: $69.99/£49.99
Yes, it’s missing the shirt pocket. But it does have the one-piece collar. Plus it has the short length and dark tonal buttons. And it’s 100% linen. Great for beating the heat. Now the bad news. The Mango U.S. website only has sizes xs to medium “coming soon”, while the UK site has sizes small to large. It’s also available on Zalando (they call it the “Parrot” shirt for some reason) in sizes small to large for £49.99. Now, this won’t bother the slimmer guys. But for you larger gentlemen? I think we’ll have to keep looking unless Mango does a restock.
Under $100
Weekday Malte Shirt in Black: £45.00
So we get that nice, unstructured camp collar, the black buttons and the shorter cut so it looks good untucked. No chest pocket. But Weekday did use a lightweight 100% organic cotton, which is something. They have sizes small to XL available on the website.
Mododoc Summerland Knit Long Sleeve Button Front Shirt in Black: $90.00
So this one is kinda interesting. It does have the chest pocket. But not the one-piece collar, even though it’s still soft and unstructured. The fabric is actually a 100% cotton garment dyed and washed lightweight Jersey knit. Obviously that’s not the same as 100% silk. But it does give the shirt an interesting look. 6pm has sizes small to XXL in stock. So this may be a good one for the big boys!
Under $200
Talented Long Sleeve Hawaiian Collar Shirt in Black: $132.00
Coming to us from Wolf & Badger, which seems to specialize in curating goods from smaller, independent designers. Gotta say, I like the concept. Anyway, this option from Talented again has a camp collar but no chest pocket. The 100% cotton fabric is pretty cool. It’s a soft, lightweight shirting that has a real silky sheen to it. Sizes small to XL are in stock.
Basic Rights Long Sleeve Camp Collar Shirt in Black: £120.00
We kinda sorta get a chest pocket. It just happens to be jetted. Once again, the interesting story with this option is the fabric. Basic Rights has gone with 100% Japanese rayon and a boxier, more retro cut. That means if you’d like a slimmer fit, you’re best sizing down. But the design should give us the look we want without the need for any tailoring. Sizes XS to XL are in stock.

I found a shirt from Abercrombie & Fitch of all places that’s pretty much a dead ringer. It has all the qualities needed (straight hem, chest pocket, camp collar) except for being silk. Although, it’s a cotton/viscose blend, so very silk like. The best part is they’re on sale for $21, but they’re also running low on sizes, so I’d grab one while you can. Link below.

This is sort of close- I ordered it $35 US

Deoveritas has a cotton stretch fabric in black that matches. You can basically custom design down to the smallest detail. You will also likely get a great fit as they are custom made. $125 online
Didn’t he wear the same shirt during the Ocean Club poker scene in Casino Royale?
TB has rebooted the Catalina Twill series in a silk blend. TB Customer Service also tells us the original 100% silk version will be re-released in Fall 2020 just in time for Bond 25.
These run big, so I sized down from my usual Medium to a Small.

I found this on H&M. Swap for darker buttons and hem the bottom and you pretty much have the Jamaica shirt in looks.
